Initially this project comprised a feasibility study to investigate and establish the best future use and options for the Port Ellen Playing Fields site on the Isle of Islay. Following considerable community consultation, the final proposals have been prepared to meet the needs of the majority of local people and visitors, and have provided the basis of numerous funding applications. With funding now secured, the project will begin on site in summer 2023 and will include the construction of a new community hub with café, offices and flexible community meetings rooms. Externally additional drainage and parking infrastructure will be added, and a new path network connecting the site to the wider area, with additional motorhome pitches as an income stream.
