Pedal for Scotland a Success!
10 September 2018
This weekend our Director Colin Hastie took part in Pedal for Scotland as part of a team with other business owners from Glasgow, raising money for Glasgow Care Foundation. Despite the leg pain for the rest of the day, the event was a huge success, nearly reaching our target of £1,000 for the charity (so far).
The team of Colin, George Glen of Creo Design, Campbell Ure of The Alternative Board and John Bourne of SOD-IT assembled at Glasgow Green around 7am to set off in one of the first waves of the “Classic Challenge” – 45 miles on closed roads from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Missing were Andrew Conway of Pangea Wealth Management and Tony Sweeney of Exchange Communications who had already set off on “The Big Belter”, showing us up by taking the 100 mile route via Lanark!
Even at that time of the morning crouds were assembling to see the cyclists off through the streets of Glasgow as the route wound through the city centre towards Coatbridge for the first pit stop. The unexpected nourishment of Tunnocks Caramel Wafers was a welcome sight at Drumpellier Country Park before we set off east though the beautiful countryside of North Lanarkshire, Falkirk and West Lothian, to finish at the Highland Showground near Edinburgh Airport.
Team “Classic” managed to finish before lunch, with Team “Big Belter” finishing in an impressive 9 hours after setting off. We all want to extend a massive thank you to the organisers, marshalls, ambulance crews, police and volunteers at the rest stations for an amazing event.
There is still time to donate to the Glasgow Care Foundation, it is a really great cause, they help lift families and individuals out of poverty in Glasgow. Please click here.
